Rumor Roundup: Upcoming WWE Gimmick Match Planned, Corey Graves’ Future, More

Here are some of the latest WWE rumors that are floating around.

5) Backstage Note On Corey Graves

According to Sean Ross Sapp on Fightful Select (subscribe here), Corey Graves has potentially been cleared to return to the ring for WWE. Graves was forced to retire from in-ring competition years ago due to injuries, which led to him becoming a commentator for WWE.

Here is what Sapp said:

“Fightful has learned that longtime color commentator Corey Graves has had a major status shift over the last year. We’ve spoken to sources in WWE and close to the situation that claim that Graves was actually cleared by WWE doctors at some point in 2020, though the company has not confirmed that to us, so it’s largely based on discussions behind the scenes. Graves briefly won the WWE 24/7 Championship in 2020, despite previously being on a strict internal “no contact” list that the company keeps. We can confirm that he was not on that list any longer. We reached out to both Corey Graves and WWE, who both responded but would not confirm or deny any parts of this news.”

My Take:

  • I am very happy for Graves if this ends up being true. Would love to see him stay as a commentator but then wrestle the odd match.

4) WWE Interested In AEW Star

According to @Wrestlevotes, WWE is very interested in signing Wardlow from AEW.

Here is what the account Tweeted:

With his biggest match to date happening later tonight, I can confirm, without hesitation, that WWE will be extremely interested in luring Wardlow away from AEW when his contract is due. There are several people within World Wrestling Entertainment that LOVE his potential.

My Take:

  • I don’t see him leaving AEW but I am not surprised that WWE is interested in him.
