Tommaso Ciampa Injury Update

Tommaso Ciampa broke the hearts of wrestling fans at NXT Takeover: Chicago. After losing the ladder match for the NXT Tag Team Titles, Ciampa turned on his partner: Johnny Gargano. The fan favorite team: DIY, is no more.

A few days prior to Takeover, Tommaso Ciampa suffered an injury at an NXT Live event. Thankfully, Ciampa was able to still wrestle in the ladder match.

We have some potential bad news for fans of Ciampa and his status moving forward.

According to Mike Johnson of PWInsider, Ciampa suffered a separate injury during the ladder match.

Ciampa was at this week’s NXT taping but was seen using crutches. He is reportedly being sent to Birmingham, Alabama for surgery and rehab. Birmingham is where WWE sends a majority of their stars for surgery (and) or treatment.

There will be more information available likely in the next few days.

Triple H also mentioned in his post-Takeover interview that the injury to Ciampa was “Significant”.

Note: Ciampa apparently appeared at the NXT taping to tell fans he will be out for a while. This will probably air on NXT TV.

We wish Ciampa the best and can’t wait until we get to see him face off against Gargano to complete their story. We will let you know when we hear any more details on how long he will be out.
