Kurt Angle recently was interviewed by The Statement Show to promote his app: Angle Strong. During the interview, Angle spoke on a wide variety of topics about his wrestling career and the industry today. One of the most intriguing parts was his comments about Roman Reigns and his reaction from fans.
Kurt had some praise for Reigns but explains why WWE fans boo him:
“Roman Reigns is talented. I don’t care what anyone says. You can’t deny that the kid knows how to work. I believe what happened to him was that they didn’t have him go through the ringer. They didn’t have him win the European title, or I should say, the Intercontinental title, U.S. title, King Of The Ring. They just threw him up there right away and the fans don’t like that. They want you to earn your keep. If any wrestler has ever done that, I don’t know of one. It seemed like they were really trying to push Roman faster than he should have been pushed”
On if Vince should continue to push him:
“I think he will earn the respect of fans, but it’s going to take a little bit more time. For Vince McMahon, it’s not a difficult choice. You keep Roman Reigns in the picture and you just continue to push him. And eventually, someday, it won’t be the half and half, 50 and 50 [where] 50 [percent of the crowd] like him and 50 don’t. Eventually, it’ll go up, 60, 70 percent.”

Our take: I think at this point it is hard to deny Reigns’ talent inside of the ring. I understand why fans are upset and Kurt puts it nicely here. Vince McMahon is known to be stubborn and I can’t see him changing his mind because the crowd is split on Reigns. A heel turn has been beaten to death, but boy would it be great for Reigns.

One heel turn is ESSENTIAL for him to be a successful face of the company. When we turn pages of history, we find that John Cena has NEVER turned heel and till date fans love to boo him despite having all the talent. On the other hand, other big faces of the company such as The Rock, Stone Cold, Triple H have huge fan bases. All because they have played heel roles too in their career. I’m a fan of Reigns but as my opinion goes, one change in the attitude is necessary for his long term benifit.
