Roman Reigns was the 30th entrant in the 2017 Royal Rumble match. He would go on to eliminate the Undertaker, who entered the match one spot ahead of him. The two would have a stare down after the elimination, teasing a future Roman Reigns vs Undertaker match at Wrestlemania.
Reigns mouthed the words: “This Is My Yard Now” to the Deadman on the outside of the ring. This was an obvious call back to the Undertaker referencing the ring as his ‘yard’ for so many years. With good reason too, the Undertaker has been a staple of WWE programming for more than 25 years. The Undertaker appeared on the March 6th episode of RAW and hit Reigns with a chokeslam, setting this match into motion.
You might be asking yourself, why does Vince McMahon want Roman Reigns vs Undertaker at Wrestlemania 33? Surely there was better storylines or matches available for both of them.
According to rumors, Vince McMahon has wanted to book this match for a while now. With the Undertaker’s health in question, this could be the final Wrestlemania that the Undertaker participates in and the last chance that Vince has to make it happen.
The idea is that this match will represent a ‘passing of the torch’ type situation. The Deadman has been a staple of WWE television for more than two decades and one of the most recognizable faces in the company’s history. Love or hate Roman Reigns, it is clear that he is going to be a staple of WWE for years to come.
Reigns telling the Undertaker that it was his yard now is an indicator of the ‘passing of the torch’ storyline and where this feud will be heading.

Another rumor is that the Undertaker will endorse Reigns, win or lose as this generations a** kicker. After a war between the two, the Deadman will shake the hand of Reigns. This didn’t work when the Rock did it in 2015 after Reigns won the Royal Rumble but Vince McMahon is stubborn enough to try again.
