WWE Rumor: Why WWE Mentioned Nia Jax’s Weight On RAW

You might have noticed something odd on RAW this week during the match between Bayley and Nia Jax. Prior to the match, Jojo (the ring announcer) announced Nia Jax’s weight during her entrance. This was something that many fans caught on social media and questioned why it was done.

Jojo announced Nia as weighing in at 272 pounds. She didn’t announce the weight of Bayley when she entered the ring.

Michael Cole also mentioned Nia’s weight a few times, specifically saying 272 pounds throughout the match.

So why is WWE giving the weight of Nia and not anyone else? WWE traditionally does not announce the weight of their female talent when they make their way to the ring. Something in stark contrast to their male talent.

The rumored reason why they focused so much on Nia Jax’s weight during the match on RAW is because they are trying to emphasize that she is the strongest and most dominant woman in the division. Her slogan is that “I’m not like most girls” and WWE is using that as a way to differentiate her from the rest of the roster.

It is unclear right now if we should expect to hear more references in the weeks to come or WWE was just testing the waters on RAW and seeing the reaction.

  1. If they’re going to do it for her, they ought to do it for all of them. If nothing else, it would be nice for young girls and women to know what they compare themselves to.

  2. Yeah, like Bayley who looks like she weighs a buck twenty five soaking wet can beat a 272 pound blob. She isn’t dominant, she’s FAT. All Nia Jax has to do is sit on her opponent, no skill required

    • But I bet you stan Kevin Owens…face it, the WWE needs Nia Jax! She’s somebody which so many of the female fans can look up to…proof that you don’t have to be “model-thin” to make it work!

She’s not here for jerks like you…she’s here for THEM (and for those who admire).

  3. If mentioning her weight was a way to ‘differentiate’ her from the rest, then that was very distasteful. She looked surprised when they mentioned it. There are better words.. Kane was the red machine.. she might just need an alias… whatever works I suppose. The weight didn’t need to be mentioned for sure.
