NXT taped their shows for December on Wednesday night at Full Sail University. At the taping, Almas’ NXT Title challenger was revealed.
WWE ran four qualifying matches. The winners of each would go on to a fatal 4-way to determine the number one contender.
Killian Dain defeated Trent Seven to qualify. Johnny Gargano defeated Kassius Ohno to qualify. Lars Sullivan defeated Roderick Strong to qualify. Aleistar Black defeated Adam Cole to qualify.
That left us with Johnny Gargano vs. Aleistar Black vs. Lars Sullivan vs. Killian Dain. The winner was Johnny Gargano, who will be getting the next title shot against Andrade Almas.
