There had been much speculation earlier in the year that Los Angeles would host the 2017 Royal Rumble. The event would have taken place at the Staples Center and would have been one of the few west coast PPV’s of the past year. It appears like something fell through as the 2017 Royal Rumble location has changed.

According to F4WOnline.com and PWInsider.com, the 2017 Royal Rumble will take place in San Antonio, Texas. It is not clear why Los Angeles was taken off the table but their reports say that the announcement will be made this week sometime to make it official.
The Royal Rumble was previously held in San Antonio in 1997 and 2007, making it fitting that the company returns to the city in 2017.

Stone Cold Steve Austin won the ’97 Rumble, while Shawn Michaels won the WWF title from Psycho Sid in the main event.
The Undertaker won the Rumble in 2007 by last eliminating Shawn Michaels.
Could we see some sort of Rumble appearance from Shawn Michaels in his home town? Would certainly be electric.
