WWE Jobs – What Superstars Did Before They Made It

6) Wade Barrett

Job Before Becoming A Wrestler: Bare Knuckle Boxer

Wade Barrett was a bare-knuckle boxer prior to becoming a professional wrestler. Not only that, he was reportedly a known champion in Europe. From an interview with WWE.com:

“As you know, my reputation as a bare-knuckle fighter often precedes me — it’s how I made my way in the world before being signed to WWE. That being said, due to the ‘less-than-legal’ nature of that particular sport, I’m not so inclined to give too many details”

He also studied marine biology at the University of Liverpool and worked in a laboratory. Quite the interesting life that he has lived.

7) John Cena

Job Before Becoming A Wrestler: Limo Driver

Yes, you read that right. Before John Cena was lighting up the wrestling world, he was a limo driver and a bad one at that.

In an interview with Ask Men, Cena revealed that he worked as a limo driver but had a very bad sense of direction due to growing up in a small town. He says that the experience was very humbling as he would constantly make customers late for their flights. He also worked as a bodybuilder prior to wrestling.

Glad Cena found the wrestling business as it seems like he wasn’t cut out for a regular job.

8) Roman Reigns

Job Before Becoming A Wrestler: (Professional) Canadian Football Player and Laborer.

Many fans know that Roman Reigns had a cup of coffee in the National Football League after a great career at Georgia Tech. He tried out for the Minnesota Vikings and the Jacksonville Jaguars but was cut from the squads.

After not making the NFL, Reigns played for the Edmonton Eskimos of the Canadian Football League, playing one season. He was released and eventually began his professional wrestling career a few years later.

In various interviews, Reigns also revealed that he worked some labor jobs after his football career ended.

9) The Great Khali

Job Before Becoming A Wrestler: Police Officer

The Great Khali had a tough upbringing and would work various odd jobs to help his family make ends meet. He eventually found work as a security guard due to his size. Khali was recruited to be a member of the Punjab Police in 1993.

He was eventually spotted while training in a gym and became a professional wrestler.

Imagine the Great Khali patrolling the streets?

10) Macho Man Randy Savage

Job Before Becoming A Wrestler: Pro-Baseball Player

Before Macho Man became one of the greatest to ever lace up a pair of boots, he had a stint as a professional baseball player in the minor leagues.

His baseball carer was ended prematurely after a few years due to injury according to WWE.com:

“After years developing in the minor leagues, a home plate collision caused an injury to his throwing arm, ending his baseball career”

Who has a Randy Poffo rookie card laying around? That is probably worth a decent chunk of change.
