The 2019 WWE Draft is officially in the books and the rosters for RAW and Smackdown are now set. Here are some matches involving the Smackdown roster to look forward to. Note: My only stipulation is that the match couldn’t have happened in WWE already. That is why a match like Sasha Banks vs Bayley isn’t included.
7) Daniel Bryan vs Drew Gulak
A match that I have included as a late addition is Daniel Bryan vs Drew Gulak. I can’t lie, the only reason why this is on my list is because Bryan Tweeted that he wants it to happen:
After thinking about it, this is definitely a match that I would love to see. I don’t know if WWE would ever do it on a PPV but it could be fun for an upcoming episode of Smackdown. It would also be a great showcase of Gulak’s talent.
6) Cesaro vs Chad Gable
When looking at the current Smackdown roster, a match that came to my mind was Cesaro vs Chad Gable.
This is one that has never happened before in WWE. They are two of the most talented guys in the company and I think that they would put on a really fun match. Their in-ring styles seem like they would mesh well with one another.
I don’t know if WWE would ever turn this into a PPV program. Still, it could be a great match for an upcoming episode of Smackdown.
5) Kofi Kingston vs Ali
I still want to see a feud and eventual match between Kofi Kingston and Ali.
Kofi took the spot of Ali at the Elimination Chamber PPV several months ago. This led to Kofi winning the WWE Championship and going on his magical run. To me, there is still a story to tell here. Ali could easily confront Kofi and be bitter about him taking his spot.
I also really want to see Ali vs Kofi happen at some point. I have been pitching this match for a while now and WWE hasn’t pulled the trigger. With the WWE Championship now off Kofi, maybe this feud could happen?
