Rumored Reason Why The WWE Took The WWE Title Off Roman Reigns.
Roman Reigns dropped the WWE Heavyweight Championship to Seth Rollins at WWE Money In The Bank (Rollins ultimately lost it about 1 minute later to Dean Ambrose). This was a surprise to many fans who thought there was no way that Reigns would drop the title so soon into his title run. There is some speculation going around that the reason could be because of Reigns’ poor drawing power as a champion for WWE house shows.

According to Dave Meltzer on the recent Wrestling Observer Radio (subscription required but recommended), the WWE live events are seeing a drop in attendance with Reigns as the top guy. Apparently, the A’ shows with Reigns headlining are doing just as well as the ‘B’ shows that feature Dean Ambrose (even though they have much stronger talent in the A group).
Here is what Meltzer said:
“Last month the ‘B’ shows with Dean Ambrose, that were often in smaller markets, were drawing just as well as the ‘A’ shows with Roman Reigns. Roman Reigns is drawing really bad. Before he wasn’t, but now he is, so now it’s an issue. Does that mean that it led to [the title change], or is this just another way to get Roman Reigns more over, because that’s been the goal for the last however long? Time will tell” (Source: Wrestling Observer Radio).

I don’t think this is the full reason why he lost the title but it looks like it might be a contributing factor. His loss also makes a lot of sense storyline wise as it sets up a Shield Triple Threat.

Let us know what you think. It should be noted that this is only a rumor and Meltzer’s opinion so we can’t take it as the absolute truth.
Does Dave Meltzer post the actual stats, ticket sales, etc. of these so called house shows?
