John Cena mentioned that without the brand split in 2002, there wouldn’t be a John Cena. The split gave him and other stars an opportunity to shine, who might not normally get the chance with all the talent on the roster. The 2016 WWE brand split will do the same for talent and allow stars to shine. He also says that storylines won’t carry over between RAW and Smackdown. Each brand will be their own separate entity.
Stephanie McMahon said the brand split will allow the WWE to slow down their storytelling which will ultimately be good for the viewers and the talent. They don’t have to rush things and they will be able to connect better to the audience.
