The August 2nd Smackdown LIVE was another solid show from the blue brand. We saw Brock Lesnar make a surprise appearance and get some revenge on Randy Orton after he blindsided him on RAW the night before. We saw the debut of American Alpha. We saw a good match between Bray Wyatt and Dolph Ziggler. Was it enough to boost viewership numbers for this week?

The August 2nd Smackdown LIVE episode averaged 2.681 million viewers. This is down from last weeks episode that averaged 2.73 million viewers.
RAW is still the big brand as the show averaged 3.314 million viewers this week. This is expected considering RAW is the flagship show and has a larger roster and an extra hour.
Still a pretty good number for Smackdown LIVE. I think as they build and find their footing they will be able to close the gap a bit more between them and RAW. I don’t think they will even be able to top RAW but they could make it interesting if they produce some good shows in a row!
