Update On The Dudley Boyz Retirement

Before RAW the Dudley Boyz teased their retirement on social media. After some tension on the last few weeks of WWE TV it seemed like this was setting up some kind of heel turn for one of them. The Dudley Boyz retirement segment was soured after Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson came to the ring and laid them both out.

This was a confusing segment. Were we really seeing the Dudley Boyz retire??? Or was the WWE setting up a feud with Anderson and Gallows? Many fans even speculated that they signed a new contract last month and this was all a work.

It seems like the Dudley Boyz retirement is official as they had a special moment during the commercial break as they said thank you to the crowd (likely for the last time). You can see that video above.

Bubba Ray Dudley also tweeted that their work is done:

It is said that old school wrestlers like to go out on their backs. I can see this being the case for the Dudley Boyz giving the rub to Anderson/Gallows.  If this is goodbye, I would like to thank them for all of the memories. I was a huge fan of the Dudleyz, the Hardyz and Edge/ Christian back in the attitude era and they have been a part of some of my favorite matches of all time. Certainly a hall of fame induction will be coming!

  1. Not all retirements should have the performers going out on top. Flair (first time) didn’t. HBK didn’t.

Besides, of all the things we’re going to fondly remember the Dudleys for, putting Epico & Primo through tables wouldn’t have even scratched the top 25. Instead, Anderson and Gallows have something to be remembered for.
