Goldberg was recently interviewed by Sports Illustrated for their Extra Mustard section. During the interview, he spoke on a wide variety of topics about his current run with WWE. One of the more interesting parts was when Goldberg was asked his thoughts on Roman Reigns.

Goldberg listed Reigns as someone who he would like to face. He was asked his thoughts on Reigns and the crowd reaction that he receives:
“I don’t know the meteoric rise of Roman and what they’ve done with him, and I’m not going to sit here and pass judgment by any means, but if they just try to push someone down people’s throats, people resent it. I wasn’t privy to it in real-time, I didn’t see everything, but I think Roman is a great kid.
He continued:
“I feel really bad that anyone would go out there and boo him based not off of not liking him or his ability, but just based upon the situation. His look, his work, his enthusiasm, and what he puts into his craft—Roman is a professional. The only thing I don’t like about him is he went to Georgia Tech.”

Our Take: Goldberg isn’t the first person to speak highly of Reigns. We have previously written about 12 WWE stars that have come to his defense over criticism from fans. It seems clear that Reigns is a hard worker and some fans are resentful because they feel he was pushed too soon. If they aren’t going to turn him heel, Reigns needs to keep improving (like he has been) and proving people wrong.
