Kevin Owens made his WWE main roster debut on the May 18th, 2015 episode of Monday Night RAW. He answered the open challenge of John Cena for the United States Championship. Instead of a match, Owens attacked Cena and set their feud into motion.

It was a very unexpected debut and a pretty cool moment. So whose idea was it to call up Owens?
It turns out that it was actually John Cena who was behind it all. Triple H revealed that it was all Cena’s idea in the new DVD – ‘Fight Owens Fight: The Kevin Owens Story’. The DVD is out this week and there is a free preview on the WWE Network.
Here is what Triple H had to say about Owens’ debut:
“Kevin came across as very authentic, and I think that Vince immediately just saw that. I know Cena saw that because Cena’s the one that went to Vince and said, ‘Hey let me do this US open challenge with him and bring him to TV.’ You know, it just all worked out.”
As we know now, Owens went on to have a great feud with Cena. He has also achieved a ton of success in his career already, including a WWE Universal Championship reign. I guess the person that we have to thank for making it possible is…. John Cena.
