Former Intercontinental Champion Reportedly Returning To WWE Soon (Spoiler Warning)

A former Intercontinental Champion will reportedly be returning to the WWE soon. Warning: This page will contain spoilers and if you don’t want the surprise ruined for you, click away now.

According to a report from Mike Johnson of PWInsider, Shelton Benjamin has officially signed a deal to return to WWE. Here is what we know.

Benjamin was going to return to WWE in 2016 and fans even saw a few vignettes air on Smackdown Live advertising that he would be ‘coming soon’. Shelton’s medical screening prior to signing displayed that he had a torn rotator cuff. This required surgery and the deal for him to return was nixed.

There is no word on when exactly he will begin with WWE but Johnson’s sources say it will be “soon”.

It should be noted that Ryan Satin of Pro Wrestling Sheet reported back in June that Benjamin was in talks with WWE and sources said he would likely be heading to Smackdown. We will have to wait and see if that changed.

Either brand would be interesting for Benjamin to appear on. On Smackdown Live he could form a partnership with Chad Gable. On RAW he would be re-united with Kurt Angle (and his son Jason Jordan), which could be a lot of fun.
