Speculation On The Reason For The 205 Live/Heavyweight Crossover On RAW

Hideo Itami made his RAW debut this week. Itami aided Finn Balor, who was being attacked by Bo Dallas and Curtis Axel. Itami made the save and ended up teaming with Balor to defeat Dallas and Axel. Even though Itami was wrestling main roster talent, the commentary team made it clear that he was still joining the 205 Live roster.

Let’s speculate on what this means for the future of the Cruiserweight division. Here are some potential scenarios.

Scenario 1) This is an indicator that we will be seeing more interactions between the Cruiserweight division and the rest of the RAW roster moving forward. Instead of keeping the division completely separate, WWE could try to do more crossover matches. This could be like a Cruiserweight accepting Roman Reigns’ Intercontinental Title open challenge to showcase their skills. The idea would be to try and change the fan perception of the Cruiserweight division. It would also make the division look more credible in the eyes of fans for wrestling against the regular roster.

Scenario 2) This was done to showcase Hideo as a big deal moving forward in the Cruiserweight division. As many fans know, the Cruiserweight division hasn’t been a major success so far and they might be trying something new in regards to how they present the division. This was a way to try and make Hideo stand out and to try and get more people to care about the division. Working with Balor was an attempt to give Hideo a rub as he makes his debut in the division.

Scenario 3) A combination of both 1 and 2.

Scenario 4) There was some speculation by some fans after RAW that this could mean that Finn Balor is heading to 205 Live. I really don’t think this is the case.
