So why was Rusev added to the match so late?
According to Dave Meltzer in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter (subscribe here), the reason why Rusev was added to the match was because of his merchandise sales.
Meltzer says that Rusev was initially scheduled to take part in the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal at the event. With the success of ‘Rusev Day’, he was pulled from the battle royal and added to the Title match.

Looks like it is a ‘Happy Rusev Day’ for all.
Our take: This is a great decision. Rusev is one of the most over guys on the entire roster and I think he deserves a place on the Wrestlemania card. Good to see a guy get rewarded for getting himself over.
