Kane and Daniel Bryan were attacked backstage by the Bludgeon Brothers before their match at Extreme Rules. The Bludgeon Brothers ending up slamming a door on the ankle of Kane. Later in the night, Kane returned wearing a walking boot. The Bludgeon Brothers were able to defeat a weakened Kane and Daniel Bryan to retain their Titles.

WWE provided a medical update on Kane after Extreme Rules. Here is what WWE posted:
“At WWE Extreme Rules, Kane suffered an injury at the hands of The Bludgeon Brothers. Despite returning to action to help his Team Hell No tag team partner Daniel Bryan, X-rays taken on The Devil’s Favorite Demon later revealed that he has suffered a broken ankle.

It turns out that this could be a legitimate injury from Kane. Here is a photo of him wearing a walking boot at a recent campaign event.
