Report On The Backstage Concern In WWE After The Positive COVID-19 Test

Mike Johnson of PWInsider has provided some details about the backstage WWE reaction after a developmental Superstar recently tested positive for COVID-19.

According to Johnson, WWE tested their talent and staff for COVID-19 for the first time on Tuesday. He notes that there is a concern among those in WWE that they may have been exposed to the virus:

There was a huge gathering this morning at the WWE Performance Center for testing, which was described to us by several as disorganized at the onset of the process.  Others told us there was no issue with getting the test done, so it may be that once WWE got things going, they handled the testing better. As you might imagine, there’s been stress and worry for many, concerned they may have been exposed to COVID-19.  To a person that we’ve spoken with today (with the exception of one talent who stated the pandemic was just a “big work”), there has been concern about their health and for those with families, concern about whether they could bring something back home they could expose their families as well. It’s obviously been an unspoken concern, but having been tested, for many, it’s a waiting game that is at the forefront of their concerns right now.

It was also noted by Johnson that a few people in WWE think the situation has been overblown. While saying that, most of the people he spoke to have described themselves as worried or upset with how WWE has handled the situation:

I want to stress that there have been some we’ve spoken to who have shrugged at the entire scenario of the last 24 hours, feeling it’s overblown (especially the one person who, as noted, feels the pandemic is a “work”), but the many of those who have spoke to PWInsider.com, under condition of anonymity, described themselves as worried and/or upset with how the last 24 hours have gone, feeling WWE needs to step up and show more care as everyone remains in the middle of a pandemic that has not passed and that in the State of Florida, where WWE is taping, has seen some bars and restaurants shut down again in the wake of cases spiking upwards.
