A WWE Writer Was Reportedly Fired By Vince McMahon During The The Hall Of Fame Ceremony

We have some news to pass your way from the WWE Hall of Fame ceremony. Specifically, news about a WWE creative team member who was let go right in the middle of the ceremony.

Mike Johnson of PWInsider is reporting that creative team member Robert Evans (also known as RD Evans) has been let go.

So why was he let go?

According to Johnson, Evans was fired because a speech that he had produced mentioned Vince McMahon. Here is a quote from Johnson:

“McMahon has strongly stressed for years that he does not want to be mentioned or praised during the Hall of Fame ceremony, to the point it has become something of a running joke.  When McMahon’s name was mentioned, sources stated that Evans took the blame as writer and producer of that segment.  One source stated the firing took place at the gorilla position as the Hall was ongoing”

For those wondering, it appears as if this might have been during Bret Hart’s induction. Bret told a story about the first time that Vince McMahon reacted to the Hart Foundation and praised their work. On his radio show, X-Pac mentioned that someone was fired during Bret’s speech. He also said that Shawn Michaels had to get direct permission from Vince to name-drop him in their speech later in the night.
