CM Punk lost his professional mixed martial arts debut on Saturday night against Mickey Gall. Punk picked up the sport 2 years ago and had his octagon debut in front of the world’s eyes. Punk was outmatched in the fight and Gall defeated him after just 2 minutes via a rear naked choke.
Punk has been getting a lot of criticism for his performance but also a lot of people have praised his heart and courage for stepping into the octagon. Punk tried and failed but at least he gave it his best shot.
Punk’s wife April Mendez took to twitter to comment on the fight. Most wrestling fans will remember her as AJ Lee from her time in the WWE from 2011-2015.

As we noted prior, Punk made some big money for UFC 203, which also might help cushion the loss. I give a ton of respect to Punk for attempting something out of his comfort zone. Not a lot of people (especially of his celebrity status) would be willing to put themselves out there for the world to see and criticize! It will be interesting to see if he keeps up with his MMA training moving forward.
