Alberto Del Rio Reveals Why He Left WWE, Why They Didn’t Want Him To Leave, Paige’s Return Timetable

Alberto Del Rio was recently interviewed by Busted Open with Dave LaGreca and Larry Dallas (on SiriusXM Rush 93). During the interview he spoke on a wide variety of topics. One of the highlights was when he spoke about why he chose to leave WWE several months ago.

Del Rio says that he left WWE because he was unhappy with the company not allowing more of a lucha libre style of wrestling:

“That’s a reason I left the company, I wasn’t happy. Thank God, I saved my money, I invested my money and I got to the point where I don’t need them. They don’t need me, I don’t need them”

Alberto says WWE needed him more than he needed them:

“To be honest, I think they need me more than I need them. That’s the reason they didn’t want me to leave, because they don’t have anyone to represent the Latin culture, the Latin market in the company.”

Del Rio would say that he dreaded going into work everyday and he eventually had enough.

He also says that WWE fans should expect Paige to return sometime in April or May. She has been out since last year after having neck surgery.
