The August 9th Smackdown LIVE has been getting praise by some for being the stronger show than RAW this week. The main event featured Dean Ambrose teaming with opponent at Summerslam, Dolph Ziggler to take on Bray Wyatt and Erick Rowan. The show also featured the in-ring debut’s of Alexa Bliss and Carmella, along with Randy Orton vs Alberto Del Rio. Was it enough to beat RAW in the viewership numbers?

The August 9th Smackdown LIVE episode drew an average of 2.455 million viewers. This is down over 8% from last weeks number of 2.681 million viewers. In comparison, RAW this week drew 2.911 million viewers and also was down big from the previous week.
The Olympic games in Rio are likely the cause of the drop in viewership for both shows. Especially for Smackdown LIVE, which was up against Michael Phelps going for 2 gold medals for the United States in the middle of the show.
Many users I talked to said that they enjoyed the August 9th Smackdown LIVE more than its RAW rival. It will be interesting to see what the ratings look like next week. Let us know what you thought of Smackdown this week in the comment section below or if you are surprised by these numbers!
