Becky Lynch dropped the major news on RAW this week that she is going to be a mother. As a result, she officially vacated the RAW Women’s Championship. The belt was given to Asuka after she won the Money in the Bank briefcase. Mike Johnson of PWinsider has now provided some backstage news about the segment on RAW between Becky and Asuka.
Johnson first spoke about what Becky’s backstage demeanor was like before her big announcement. Here is what he said (h/t to Ringside News for the quotes below):
“They kept it super quiet. Lynch was kinda very quiet backstage. She wasn’t very talkative with people. She wasn’t beaming about the news to those in the company until after the segment was taped. So there were a lot of people who were not aware all this time that she and Seth were expecting a child until the announcement was made.”
During RAW, Becky and Asuka shared a sweet moment after Becky said that she was going to be a mother. Johnson says that Asuka was not aware she was winning the Title until she arrived at RAW and her reaction to Becky was genuine:
“We were told that when WWE filmed the Money In The Bank ladder match in Stamford that Asuka was not aware she was winning the RAW Women’s Championship. She was not aware that was happening until yesterday when she got to the taping. So her reaction while she knew what was going to happen in the segment was legitimately shocked and excitement we were told.”
