Backstage News On The Way That WWE Debuted The New Call-Ups From NXT

RAW and Smackdown this week saw most of the new call-ups from NXT appear (except Lars Sullivan). EC3, Nikki Cross, Lacey Evans, and Heavy Machinery all appeared in various roles on the episodes.

Dave Meltzer provided an update on these debuts in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (subscribe here).

According to Meltzer, the mentality right now from Vince McMahon is that he just wants fans to see their faces on TV.

According to the report, WWE hasn’t decided on how they are going to use them or what show that they are going to be on moving forward.

The idea right now is to get fans more familiar with them. This is because most fans don’t really know who they are (since most don’t watch NXT every week). When WWE has a plan in place for them, fans will at least have a better idea of their characters from these background segments.

My Take: I think that this is smart for some of them. Characters like Nikki and Heavy Machinery can thrive in these random backstage segments. On the other hand, I’d like to see WWE give some microphone time to EC3 and Lacey Evans. They both seem like they would come across better if they were given some time to cut a promo.
