Best Wrestlemania Matches Of All Time

4) Ricky Steamboat vs Randy Savage

— Wrestlemania III

Wrestlemania III is known for Hulk Hogan slamming Andre the Giant in the main event. This overshadowed an incredible match that took place earlier in the night: Ricky Steamboat vs Randy Savage for the WWF Intercontinental Championship.

The match is widely considered one of the best in the history of Wrestlemania and one of the best matches of the 1980’s. Many WWE stars have said in interviews that this match is what made them want to become professional wrestlers. Two of the best workers in wrestling fighting over what would go on to be considered the worker’s title: (The Intercontinental Title).

Ricky Steamboat stood tall at the end of the match, winning the Intercontinental Championship. Both guys put on outstanding performances and the match was perfect.

This match earns the number 4 spot on our list and is worth the watch if you haven’t seen it!

3) ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin vs The Rock

— Wrestlemania X-Seven

Some fans may disagree with this match being so high on our list because of how it ended but it remains as one of my favorite Wrestlemania matches of all-time.

The two biggest stars of the ‘Attitude Era’ and longtime rivals: The Rock and ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin faced off in a no disqualification match for the WWF Championship.

Both men brawled inside of the ring and went to war, with both of them bleeding by the end of the match. There were a lot of near falls and great submission attempts that had fans on the edge of their seats. Both men traded finishers, with Austin hitting the ‘Rock Bottom’ at one point and the Rock hitting a ‘Stunner’. If you were a fan of either guy, you were loving this match.

The ending is where the match draws a bit of criticism. Steve Austin turned heel by siding with his long-time nemesis: Vince McMahon. Vince threw Austin a chair, which leads to multiple and vicious chair shots to the Rock. Stone Cold won the match and as Paul Heyman would say: “Steve Austin has sold his soul for the WWF Championship”.

We have heard fans complain about the heel turn and even Austin himself admitted that it was probably a mistake. Regardless the match remains as one of my favorites of all time and deserves a top spot on our list.

  1. What about the very first Wrestlemania 1 with Mr T and Hogan against R.Pipper and Mr Orndorff? It may not be the best match ever on Wrestlemania but it started the whole thing. I remember Hogan and Mr T a couple of nights before the match at David Letterman. Gosh it really started the wrestlemania…
