Big Update On CM Punk’s UFC Future

CM Punk lost his Mixed Martial Arts debut to Mickey Gall at UFC 203. Punk was clearly outmatched in skill but displayed a lot of heart in defeat and gained the respect of many fans. It has been a question if Punk will fight again in the UFC or they will release him with an 0-1 record.

Dana White was a guest on Fox Sports 1 this week, where he spoke about Punk’s future in the UFC. He indicates that Punk will probably never fight in the UFC again.

Here is what he said:

“Probably not. But he wanted to try it. I like the guy, I respect the guy. He wanted to fight in the UFC. He wanted to do it, he trained for two years and he did it” (Source: Fox Sports 1).

Some UFC fans think it is a joke that Punk was allowed to fight in the first place with no previous experience. After his performance at UFC 203 it proved that he shouldn’t be fighting in the best professional organization in the world.

On the other hand, Punk fighting drew a lot of eyeballs from casual viewers. The event did a lot of PPV buys and as a business it is hard for the UFC to cut bait so easily.

We will wait and see but it looks like Punk will be getting released.

Let us know what you think. Should Punk fight again or is the UFC doing the smart thing?
