On Monday Night RAW this week, Matt Hardy teased that his ‘Broken’ gimmick is coming soon. The biggest thing that was standing in the way of the gimmick coming to WWE was Matt’s battle with Impact Wrestling over ownership.

We have a big update on the ‘Broken Matt’ gimmick and its future in WWE.
PWInsider reports that Impact has internally decided that they will not pursue ownership of the “Broken Universe”. This would leave Matt open to trademark it for himself without any opposition.
To go along with this, Impact Wrestling’s President: Ed Nordholm released a statement to Sports Illustrated about the ‘Broken’ gimmick. He says that they will now allow talent to use their gimmicks after they leave Impact:
“We have seen the character development and will be interested to see where they take the concept. Our new talent agreements all incorporate language that allow talent to continue to use their IMPACT persona after they leave the company. We are working with our legal team to amend our existing agreements to extend this to all of our current and former talent.”
It does look like Matt will be using the ‘Woken’ name:
