Biggest WWE Rumors Of The Week – May 4, 2019

Here are 10 of the biggest WWE rumors of the week.

10) The Possible Plans For Lio Rush

There have been plenty of rumors floating around about Lio Rush over the past week or two. This includes rumors that he has tons of backstage heat in WWE.

Mike Johnson of PWInsider provided an interesting update on Lio. According to Johnson, WWE might be sending him back to NXT:

“There’s been a lot of talk about the future of Lio Rush.  He was backstage at Raw last night, but was not used.  There’s been a lot of talk within the company that he’s going to be shifted back over to WWE NXT in the near future”

Rush did NOT appear alongside Bobby Lashley on RAW this week, so it looks like they have officially split up the pairing.

9) WWE Is NOT Planning Becky Lynch vs Charlotte Flair At Wrestlemania 36

Last week, rumors began to circulate that WWE might be planning Becky Lynch vs Charlotte Flair for Wrestlemania 36. These rumors caused many fans to scratch their heads since we are getting Charlotte vs Becky at the Money in the Bank PPV. Also, it is a match that fans have seen a lot already over the past year.

According to Dave Meltzer in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter (subscribe here), Charlotte vs Becky is no longer the plan for Wrestlemania 36. Here is an excerpt from Meltzer:

“Not that this won’t change 25 times in the next year, but the reason they are putting Lynch vs. Flair at Money in the Bank is that they have a different match planned for next year’s Mania for Lynch. The only thing we know is that she’s slotted to be the top woman on that show, and her opponent is not scheduled to be either Flair or Rousey at this point”

I think that most fans would be okay with something fresh for Becky at Wrestlemania 36.

8) The Cancelled Plans For EC3

During a recent dark match, WWE was testing out EC3 with a manager. That manager was Drake Maverick, who was EC3’s friend and rival during their time together in IMPACT Wrestling.

According to Dave Meltzer in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Vince McMahon hated the pairing and has scrapped it. Here is an excerpt:

“[Luke Harper] was basically used as the opponent to test out the EC 3 and Maverick pairing as wrestler/manager. The agents set up a bunch of manager spots in the match. Vince then watched it and said he hated the manager spots”

If this is true, this sucks for fans of EC3. He hasn’t gotten a chance since being called up.
