On Busted Open Radio, Bubba Ray Dudley recently shared some ideas for Brock Lesnar in the Royal Rumble match. This comes after it was revealed that Brock will be the first entrant in the men’s Rumble match this year.
Bubba’s first idea was for CM Punk to return at #30 and confront Brock. Here is what Bubba said (h/t to SEScoops for the quotes below):
“I think that if there’s hope that surrounds any one wrestler more than anybody else, it’s him… Even though he keeps pro wrestling at more than an arm’s length, I think that fans everywhere hope to see him back.”
“And the only reason I’m suggesting CM Punk is not for the shock value of him being the surprise entrant. It’s for the story that it could present for Brock. Check this out: Brock is standing by himself, end of the match. He ran the gamut, everybody’s out, who the hell is going to be number thirty? Punk’s music hits. The place is going to go absolutely bats—t crazy.”
“Punk enters the ring, Punk and Brock Lesnar are face-to-face. That hard camera shot shows you them face-to-face, and splitting right in the middle is the look of horror, Paul Heyman looking like Kevin from Home Alone with that look of horror on his face.”
Bubba’s next idea had to do with Keith Lee. He thinks that WWE has a really good opportunity to elevate Lee if he were to confront Brock during this match. Here is what Bubba said:
“We talk about WrestleMania moments, how about a Royal Rumble moment? Lets MAKE Keith Lee, by having him go face to face with Brock Lesnar. That’s how you help a guy to get over. I’m talking about a moment in time. Keith Lee and Brock Lesnar face to face. The moment those two start staring at each other dead in the eyes? That place will come unglued. But [then] I wouldn’t put it past WWE to do something different.”
“If I was them [WWE], I don’t think we can get a bigger main event than Brock and CM Punk. But there are other scenarios that I have that don’t include Punk. Since Brock is great at ‘making’ guys, If the WWE by chance wanted to call Keith Lee up, although I don’t think its the right time. I don’t put it past Brock to give Keith Lee the same moment that the Undertaker gave Maven years ago.”
