A few years ago, Vince McMahon was a guest on the ‘Stone Cold Podcast’ live on the WWE Network. This is where Vince made his infamous ‘brass ring’ comment about the current WWE locker room. Vince also praised the physical talent of Cesaro during the interview but said that he lacked charisma and the ‘it’ factor.
For a refresher, here is what Vince said about Cesaro:
“He’s not connecting yet and we hope he will. He doesn’t quite have the charisma. He doesn’t quite have the verbal skills as well, and maybe because he’s Swiss, I don’t know, in terms of the European style. But those are the big things that he’s lacking. The audience needs to care about you. They need to be able to feel your presence. You need to be able to project that. He’s an extraordinary physical talent, extraordinary. But at the moment, and hopefully he’ll get it, he lacks ‘it.'”
During a recent interview with All Things Wrestling Radio, Cesaro said that he used the comments from Vince as motivation. He also revealed what he told Vince the next day.
Here is what Cesaro said:
“I was actually listening to it on the drive to the next city…I was not very happy about it to say the least because I couldn’t disagree more. The next day I walked into his office and said ‘challenge accepted.’ That’s how I deal with things – head on…I’d like to say I’ve been doing pretty good so far.”
