Chris Jericho was a guest on a recent episode of the LAW presented by the Fight Network. During the interview, Jericho spoke on a wide variety of topics. The conversation geared towards Roman Reigns, where Jericho had some interesting comments.
Jericho has worked with Reigns a number of times and is currently engaged in a feud with him, alongside his best friend Kevin Owens. Jericho has nothing but good things to say about Reigns as a wrestler and says that he only gets booed because it is the popular thing to do.
Here is what he said:
“Listen, the guy is an amazing performer, he’s a great worker, I would work with him every night of the year if I could but still people boo him because it’s almost like the John Cena thing where that’s the cool thing to do. I think if you actually said why don’t you like Roman Reigns, people wouldn’t even be able give you an answer, it’s just the cool thing to do is boo him”

Now that Reigns has been out of the main event scene for a little while, has your opinion changed on him? Many fans still dislike him as a performer, but I think even his harshest critic would find it difficult to argue that he hasn’t improved tremendously over the past year. He has been involved in a number of great matches with many different opponents.

I think Reigns is a good wrestler, but I think he has a brutally stale character. He’s needed a refresh since leaving The Shield. He still wears The Shield gear, he still has The Shield music. His mic skills are also quite poor, so I think he could use a good mouthpiece (Heyman, Paul Ellering) But again, Jericho is right, is a good wrestler, good worker… but isn’t very entertaining otherwise.
That vest is why I boo him. That super man punch too, that is just dumb as a finisher, maybe a transition move, but not a finisher. If he did that last ride style sit out power bomb as a finisher, I could get over the vest.
He really just needs a revamp, or at least send him to Lucha Underground. Put a mask on him and don’t make him talk much.
