Daniel Bryan On Why Smackdown LIVE Is Better Than RAW, Who He Was Excited To Draft

Daniel Bryan is now a couple weeks into his tenure as Smackdown LIVE General Manager. Daniel Bryan appeared on a recent episode of the Bear Hug It Out Podcast. During the interview he spoke about what makes his brand better than RAW. He also spoke about who he was looking forward to selecting in the WWE draft a couple weeks ago. Here were some of the highlights:

Daniel Bryan on what makes Smackdown LIVE better than RAW:

“To me, the best part about it is it’s only a two hour show. It’s a lot funner to watch. It’s a lot easier to watch. But there’s also, we’re trying to really put the wrestlers first, the Superstars first, so that’s one of the things we’re really doing for the show. We’re trying to make a more exciting show than RAW. But Shane and I are working really hard each and every week to make SmackDown must-see viewing” (Source: Bear Hug It Out Podcast).

On who he was excited to draft:

“I was really excited to [draft] two people. I’m really excited to get Dean Ambrose and I’m really excited to get AJ Styles. So, I’ve known AJ Styles for a long, long time. We wrestled each other for the first time, I think, in 2003, so yeah, 13 years ago, so it’s neat to see him on this stage”  (Source: Bear Hug It Out Podcast).

I think Smackdown LIVE has a chance to climb closer to RAW in the battle of the brands. RAW had some obvious advantages like a bigger roster and an extra hour of their show each week. Give Smackdown some time and I think we could be seeing some awesome shows out of them! Especially if they focus on the superstars first like Bryan says.
