Reason #1 – Why Showcase What Is Immortalized?
There is a reason why WrestleMania is known as “The Showcase of Immortals,” to prove who is the very best in the WWE, squaring off with someone who is also the best in the company, at WWE’s biggest event of the year.
This is an opportunity for stars to be under a spotlight that they’ve never been under before (i.e. Zack Ryder at WrestleMania 32.) It is also an opportunity for younger and new talent to hone their skills and to see if they can truly carry THE biggest show that the WWE has to offer. This is the place where stars become immortal and are etched into the history of the WWE. Goldberg vs Brock Lesnar III does not need to happen, especially not for the title.
Here’s my take: Goldberg vs Brock Lesnar already happened at WrestleMania, which I mentioned before. In this case, Goldberg is considered immortalized and etched into the history of WWE forever because he defeated the “Next Big Thing” in wrestling. Brock Lesnar has wrestled at every WrestleMania since WrestleMania 29, and ever since his win at WrestleMania 30 against The Undertaker, he was booked like a monster and immortal between 2014-2015. Brock Lesnar has been etched in history, not only for wrestling at “The Grandest Stage of Them All,” but he is forever etched in history as the man that ended The Undertaker’s legendary WrestleMania streak. It is time for the new stars to make history of their own, and break the old formula of using legends to sell tickets.
If there is time invested into these new stars, and they are able to draw a good deal, then let them lead the next WrestleMania event. Having one legend to sell tickets isn’t a bad thing; but when you start to rely on them to sell tickets because you don’t invest into your newer and younger talent, there is an issue there, and it is my hope that these “New Era” wrestlers prove everybody wrong and that Vince McMahon truly buys into the “New Era” that he has brought up.
