WWE News: For Those Who Hate WWE’s Current Writing, The Managing Lead Writer Has Been Let Go

A large majority of the complaints from WWE fans are usually with the creative and writing of the current product. We constantly hear: “fire the writing team” or “put me in charge of creative”. For disgruntled fans that are unhappy with the product, you wish might have just came true.

F4WOnline is reporting that the managing lead writer of RAW and Smackdown: Tom Casiello has been  let go by the WWE.

From F4WOnline.com’s daily update:

“There was a minor shakeup in WWE creative today. Tom Casiello, the managing lead writer, who oversaw the Raw & Smackdown writing teams, was let go. He was a key person who was very influential in the push of the women of late”

Definitely don’t want to place any blame upon him, considering everything at the end of the day goes by Vince McMahon. This is just a very note-worthy shake-up for the WWE moving forward.

Interesting that they mention he was key in the push of the female talent as of late. We have seen Sasha Banks and Charlotte get main even spots over the past several weeks. Not sure if this will have any impact on them moving forward but it is certainly interesting.

Let us know what you think in the comment section below. Are you happy about the change? Will this have any effect at all?

  1. according to this article, the change occurred “today”… but we’ve all noticed the change in WWE creative the last several weeks. certainly more edgier than before.

the strange dichotomy is that regardless of who gets fired or hired, everything gets filtered through vince anyways. so, its hard to say if there are good ideas being rejected simply because vince doesn’t like them.

regardless, I believe vince is open to ideas. he’s notorious for being open to interesting creative. I believe more than anything, its convincing the shareholders & advertisers that more teenage/adult content is better long term. not suggesting full-on attitude era, but certainly more believable and catered to an older viewing audience.
