House Of Horrors – Here Is The Original Idea For The Match

Bray Wyatt will face off against Randy Orton in what WWE is calling a ‘House of Horrors’ match. If you are like us, you had no idea what the heck a ‘House of Horrors’ match was when it was first announced. WWE hasn’t made any indications of what fans should expect.

We might have gotten a hint on a recent episode of: E&C’s Pod of Awesomeness. Edge and Christian revealed that the match was originally pitched to them when they were a part of ‘the Brood’ in the late 90’s.

They revealed that the idea was pitched by Michael ‘PS’ Hayes for them to face off against the Hardy’s in a ‘House of Horrors’ match. Here is how they described it (and giving us a possible hint for Payback):

“What about The Brood against The Hardys?’ And he came up with this concept for this House Of Horrors Match where basically we would do the match inside of like a funhouse-type thing with like two-way mirrors and different rooms and things and we would fight all the way — I can’t remember how the match would end, but I remember the concept and being like ‘woah, that’s pretty crazy but kinda cool.’”

Edge also thinks that Matt Hardy remembers this pitch and based the Final Deletion off some of the ideas:

“It was strange, and shoot it like a movie with trap doors and secret passageways and all of these things. Kinda I guess, a predecessor to — like Matt must’ve remembered that and took that and ran with it with the, you know, “Delete, Delete” idea and everything like that. But I remember Michael coming up with it and the four of us were kinda like, ‘woah that’s crazy but there’s a possibility.’ And then it was about figuring out how Jeff could do a Whisper In The Wind off a staircase and just weird things like that. But I remember the multiple camera angles.”

While Payback might not be exactly the same, this could be a hint for what the match will end up looking like. Michael Hayes still works in WWE and holds a prominent role as a backstage agent.
