“Warriors of Wrestling would first and foremost like to apologize to our fans. Your loyalty and respect for our product was tested last night as you did not get the main event that you were promised and was advertised. Unfortunately, we were faced with an extreme lack of professionalism from someone we have had no issues with on other occasions.
The competitors in the main event gave everything they could and we feel they made up where a “legend” managed to fall short. We are confident that the match they had sent our fans home happy. However, we recognize than many of you paid to see Rikishi wrestle and did not get that. We don’t often like to pull back the curtain, but we respect our audience enough to let them know when they have been screwed.
Rikishi was contacted months back. We agreed on a price for him to wrestle on our show, as we have done on two other occasions. He was paid in full, and also made money from the autographs at the show. After making his money during intermission, he refused to wrestle. He did not care about the nearly 300 fans that came there that night and, more specifically, those who paid for an autograph or picture. It took quite a bit of work to even just have him leave his seat at the merch table. You have all seen that WOW brings in plenty of big name outside talent every month and it is extremely rare we find any kind of issues. However, last night was unique in its lack of professionalism. We have never experienced something so blatantly disrespectful to the fans.
Once again, we are very sorry to those fans who came down to see the advertised main event. We are not in the business of false advertisement. We thank you for your continued patronage and loyalty, and will continue to strive to be the absolute best promotion in the northeast (without employing unprofessional “legends” who prefer to play old carny tricks).
