James Ellsworth faced AJ Styles in the main event of Smackdown LIVE for the WWE World Championship this week. Ellsworth ended up getting the win via disqualification, allowing Styles to keep his title. It has been a crazy couple of weeks for Ellsworth, who has been an internet sensation over the past several weeks.
Ellsworth appeared on Eric Bischoff’s podcast: Bischoff on Wrestling this week. He spoke about the match against Styles and what Vince McMahon told him backstage. Here are some highlights:
On what Vince McMahon told him after his match against AJ Styles:
“Yesterday after the match I got to walk up and shake his hand and he told me, “Good job.” From him it means the world. I have so much respect for him. He’s the number one guy in the business and has been for a long time. I never expected to even have a conversation with him, ever. For him to just look me in the eye and tell me, “Good job,” that’s the most overwhelming thing to me. For sure” (Source: Bischoff On Wrestling).
