One of the biggest topics surrounding Wrestlemania season over the past few years is WWE’s reliance on part-time talent to build their shows. Part-time stars like Goldberg and the Undertaker are brought back to only wrestle a few times and are featured in some of the prominent matches on the card.

Some fans are upset that the part-time talent take away spots from the wrestlers that work the grueling WWE schedule all year. At Wrestlemania time, they find themselves bumped down the card to make room for the established stars.
From a business perspective, bringing in part-time talent helps sell the event. JBL on his recent appearance on ‘Bring it to the Table’ on the WWE Network, explained why WWE relies on part-time talent more today than they did during the ‘Attitude Era’.
JBL argues that during the ‘Attitude Era’ you didn’t need part-timers because of the stars that were on the roster at the time:
“People complain about a 50-year-old guy coming back. That didn’t have to happen during The Attitude Era when we had ‘Stone Cold’ [Steve Austin], and The Rock, and The Undertaker, and that incredible roster, maybe one of the greatest of all time, you didn’t need anybody to draw ratings. Now, we’re bringing some of these guys back. We have great stars, but Goldberg still draws and until he doesn’t draw and there [are] people to supplant him, he will always be welcome in WWE.”
