On the latest edition of his podcast, Jerry ‘The King’ Lawler spoke about the wedding on RAW between Lana and Bobby Lashley. Lawler was one of the commentators for the segment and had to try and keep things from going off the rails.
During the podcast, Jerry ended up revealing what Vince McMahon told him prior to the segment.
Lawler said that Vince trusted him to do his job and wasn’t constantly in his ear for the entire segment (which appears to be what usually happens to commentators). Here is what Lawler said (h/t to Sportskeeda for the quote below):
“Vince was great and Paul Heyman was great before the segment started. It really took a lot of pressure [off] because sometimes you don’t know how people will want you to call a certain segment that is really that important, because they’ve built this thing up for so long and done so much extra media coverage on it.
The simple words from Vince were, ‘King, go out there and have fun with this.’ That was just opening the door to the candy store for King right there.”
