Jim Ross Comments On The Roman Reigns Suspension

Jim Ross Comments On The Roman Reigns Suspension.

The wrestling world was shocked on Tuesday to find out about the Roman Reigns suspension from the WWE for 30 days. Reigns violated the WWE’s wellness policy and we don’t know what caused him to fail (and likely never will). Legendary commentator Jim Ross weighed in about the Roman Reigns suspension and what the impact will be on his career.

JR says he is very disappointed in Reigns for his suspension and says failing to follow the WWE’s wellness policy is irresponsible:

“Very disappointed that Roman Reigns has been suspended for 30 days as a result of a failed wellness test in WWE. Hopefully, Reigns took something  that he was unaware was a violation. There are lots of supplements on the market that I’m told often times don’t jive with the wellness policy and its up to every talent who may use these supplements to make sure that they are good to ingest. A failure to do is is totally irresponsible” (Source: JRSBARBQ.com).

He also says he hopes that this was a one-time mistake for Reigns and he comes back better and more responsible then ever:

“Hopefully this is a one off situation that will never occur again for this talent that WWE is relying on to be a prime time player for years to come. How Roman invests his time in the next thirty days will be eye opening because one would hope that the highly regarded young talent will want to come back better than when he left. No talent can do more to harm themselves than to give their bosses the impression that they are irresponsible or unreliable and wellness test failures speak loudly to that matter. It’s up to the talents to dispel that perception upon their return to the work place” (Source: JRSBARBQ.com).

Agree with JR here. I have heard a lot of people say his career is over. Listen, people make mistakes. If Reigns comes back in 30 days and stays clean, it will all be okay. No excuses for using a substance that is banned by the WWE and he has to own up to it (like he has done in his comment on the suspension). This will give fans more fodder to hate on him so he is going to have to work twice as hard to gain back everyone’s respect. Not impossible and I wish him the best!

  1. From my understanding, the Wellness Policy covers a lot of territory, so the assumption that it was drugs or PEDs is irresponsible and unfair.

That being said, saying that Reigns’ career is over is ridiculous. His push is probably paused for the foreseeable future. Per SmackDown, the Triple Threat is still on, but I don’t see Reigns winning that. He’ll probably be kept out of the Title(s) picture for awhile, until he can regain the trust of WWE.

This could be a good thing for both Reigns and WWE. When Triple H lost his push in 1996 due to the MSG Curtain call, a mid-carder named Stone Cold Steve Austin got a chance to shine. It all depends on how WWE and Reigns deal with this setback.
