The 2017 edition of WWE’s Extreme Rules pay-per-view is officially in the books. The event saw a steel cage match, a submission match and even a kendo stick on a pole match. The event wasn’t exactly ‘Extreme’ as the name suggests.

On a recent episode of his podcast: ‘The Ross Report’, Jim Ross spoke about the WWE still using the word ‘extreme’ to promote their events.
Here is what he had to say:
“Look, I’m not by any means advocating that ‘oh my god, we’ve gotta get blood back into wrestling.’ I’m not saying that at all but the fact is the product has changed. It’s more refined, it’s more sophisticated, if you will, for the lack of a better term off the top of my head right now. So it’s not really ever going to be related to extreme. That’s not a negative. It’s almost like… ‘extreme,’ to me, is a little bit like the term ‘Diva.’ It kind had its shelf life and let’s move on. It doesn’t enhance anything anymore.”
Can’t say that I disagree with him.
