Jim Ross Reveals Whose Idea It Was To Have Him Call The Wrestlemania Match Between Roman Reigns and The Undertaker

Jim Ross was recently a guest on the ‘Sam Roberts Wrestling Podcast’. He spoke on a wide variety of topics about  his career during the interview.

One of these topics had to do with his recent return to WWE at Wrestlemania 33. For those that missed it, JR returned to call the match between the Undertaker and Roman Reigns. This was only a few weeks after his wife had passed away.

It was originally believed that it was the Undertaker’s request to have JR call his final match. It turns out that it was Vince McMahon that made the call:

“Vince McMahon’s idea was to bring me back. It was Vince’s idea to call the Undertaker match. I was under the impression that Undertaker had suggested I call the match when he heard that I might come back. Kevin Dunn was crucial in the negotiations. For years McMahon would say to me and Kevin Dunn that we were his Number 1 and Number 2 guy. It’s all about talent and television, or television and talent. Vince will always say that the two elements of his company to become successful are television and talent.”

Great to see JR back home!
