Jim Ross Says WWE Commentators Should Call Every Match Like They Did Goldberg vs Lesnar

We noted prior how the WWE announce team were told to call the match at Survivor Series between Brock Lesnar and Goldberg as a real-life fight. This was to simulate a UFC type atmosphere for the match. If you watch Survivor Series back, you will notice a difference in the announce team from the main event and the rest of the show.

Jim Ross on his blog, says that WWE should call every match like that:

“Saw online where, allegedly, WWE gave their broadcasters instructions on how to frame their narrative for the Goldberg-Lesnar bout at Survivor Series and it was reported that it was to call the match as if it were a real fight with MMA flavor. My question would be why wouldn’t that be the goal on every bout that fits that description or comes close?”

He continued:

“This is not just for WWE but for every wrestling promotion that is if the goal is still to get one’s audience to buy in and suspend their disbelief while getting lost in the story. That is the objective, right?”
