John Cena was last seen on WWE television at Wrestlemania 33 where he proposed to Nikki Bella after their mixed tag team match. In the meantime, Cena has been off shooting some movies as he continues his career outside of the wrestling ring.
Many WWE fans have been asking when Cena is expected to return to Smackdown live.
The next WWE event that Cena is expected for is Smackdown Live on July 4th. The event takes place at the Talking Stick Resort Arena in Phoenix and is currently advertising Cena to appear.
Many American viewers will recognize July 4th as a very special holiday: Independence Day. Ratings typically drop on WWE shows that land on holidays, as fans are understandably not in front of their televisions on those days.
WWE will likely be using Cena’s return on this show to try and get some viewers in the United States to tune in.

It will be interesting to see if their strategy works. We expect that his return will be heavily advertised a few weeks prior to the show.
