Kurt Angle Denies The 2017 Royal Rumble Rumors

On January 16th, Kurt Angle was announced as the headliner for the 2017 WWE Hall of Fame class. This was the first time WWE fans have seen Angle since 2006 when he left the company. With the news, many WWE fans have been speculating that he could be a surprise entrant in this years Royal Rumble match.

We reported prior that Angle was recently pulled from the 5 Star Wrestling show that takes place on Saturday night, one day before the Rumble. This added some more fuel to the fire.

Kurt Angle was interviewed by TMZ and denied all of the rumors, saying:

“Royal Rumble is not gonna happen”

He went on to say that a lot of people are assuming it and writing about. He hasn’t talked to WWE about anything other than the Hall of Fame.

He does say that he thinks there is a chance that he could wrestle for the company down the road. Just nothing is planned right now other than him being in the Hall of Fame.

Our take: The conspiracy theorist in me says that this is Kurt throwing everybody off the trail. If he was a surprise entrant in this years Rumble, he isn’t going to come out and say it. Guess we are going to have to wait until Sunday to find out and I am perfectly fine with that. I still am hoping to hear his music.

  1. I not saying one way or the other… but to clear the air, all he would need to say is, “im not swerving anyone. im not trying to throw anyone off. I will not be in the rumble.”
