Re-Writing The Book – Chapter 6: The Omega

Earlier this year right before the Royal Rumble the internet caught wind that Kenny Omegas contract with NJPW had expired and he was considering WWE. Even teasing that he was going to be in the Royal Rumble many times over various forms of Social Media. Ultimately he decided to stay with NJPW and have possibly one of the best non WWE years in the history of wrestling. He has been praised many times by wrestling websites, other wrestlers and even given unlimited amount of stars by Dave Meltzer. No doubt becoming one of the most talented wrestlers not under contract by the WWE what if he hadn’t resigned with NJPW what would his year look like currently?

If Kenny Omega had signed a WWE contract in January of this year he would have almost certainly debuted in the rumble match as a surprise entrant much like AJ Styles the year prior. He would have come in early in the rumble and had a very good showing until being eliminated by Dolph Ziggler. This would have set up Kenny Omega to be the new big contract signing of Shane McMahon and the blue brand and presented as an international star. Ziggler would have taken offense to this and they would have had a feud going into the Elmination Chamber match.

During this same time the AJ Styles and Shane McMahon drama would have still been stewing over not getting a singles title rematch against John Cena. Omega and Ziggler would have been given fifteen minutes or so on the Elimination Chamber PPV and would have had a fantastic match allowing the world to see the in ring debut of Kenny Omega. Of course Kenny Omega would have picked up the win against Ziggler and Omega presented as a star. Backstage at this event you would have gotten Styles and Shane arguing before Styles match only for Omega to walk up to Shane and thank him for bringing him to the “big leagues”. Then we get a quick stare down between AJ Styles and Kenny Omega. Styles would go on to lose the elimination chamber to Bray Wyatt just as he did.

The next Smackdown would start with Shane McMahon out to welcome and congratulate the hottest superstar in the world Kenny Omega. This would bring out AJ Styles to demand a one on one rematch for his title as he never received one. During this same time Orton who won the rumble would be refusing to take on Wyatt. Leading to the big fatal five way to crown a number one contender. AJ Styles, Kenny Omega, Luke Harper, the Miz and John Cena. During this match Styles and Omega would take each other out of the match during a table spot which would leave both men unable to continue the match leading to a Luke Harper victory.

The next week AJ Styles would come out and complain about Shane and say that if he is going to take matters into his own hands. This is when AJ Styles would attack Shane in the parking lot. Omega would approach Styles in the back and ask him what his problem is lately and that if he wants to pick a fight with someone the best wrestler in the world is right here. The show would go off the air and the next week Shane McMahon would be back and he would make the Wrestlemania match of Kenny Omega and AJ Styles with Shane McMahon as the special guest referee.

AJ would complain each and every week about how unfair it is leading up to the Wrestlemania PPV. We would finally get to Wrestlemania and to kick-off the show we would have gotten Kenny Omega and AJ Styles with Shane McMahon as the special guest referee. This would have hands down no question been the match of the night. Meltzer may have even given this matchup five stars although it happened in Orlando and not in Tokyo. During the match Shane McMahon would be knocked down and Omega would have gotten the pin however no referee to count. AJ Styles would have gotten the pinfall on Kenny Omega after he turns into the phenomenal forearm after trying to get Shane McMahon back up. During the pin-fall Shane and AJ would have been staring at each other as the count happened.

The Superstar shakeup would be coming around the corner and neither AJ Styles nor Kenny Omega would move and this feud would continue to the delight of every wrestling fan in the world. Kenny Omega would come out on the Superstar Shakeup edition of Smackdown Live and challenge AJ Styles to a match. AJ Styles would then come down the ramp only to have Anderson and Galllows attack Kenny Omega from behind. This would lead to the formation of “The Club” on Smackdown Live and solidify Kenny Omega a top baby face and AJ Styles the top heel of the brand. AJ would tell Omega to find two partners if he could for the Backlash PPV. Omega would go on to recruit American Alpha to team with at the Backlash PPV.

Backlash would be set with Alpha/Omega vs. The Club. This would be an absolute clinic with all six guys being able to work a fantastic match. Styles would grab the pin-fall on Chad Gable and further AJ Styles claim that he is the best in the world and that the club is the most dominant in the world. Leading us to the Money in the Bank PPV. Which would have Baron Corbin, Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn, AJ Styles, Shinsuke Nakamura, and Kenny Omega in the match. AJ Styles and Kenny Omega would again cost each other this match and Baron Corbin would end up winning just as he did by pushing Shinsuke Nakamura off the top of the ladder.

That would bring us to where we are today and the Battleground PPV that would see AJ Styles vs. Kenny Omega in a cage match to in theory keep all outsides out of the ring. This would be used for Kenny Omega to finally pick-up a victory of AJ Styles however not by pinning him. The victory would come when Omega would land just before AJ Styles did and this feud would culminate at Summerslam and quite possibly be one of the greatest feuds of all time. From there you could go a lot of ways if Kevin Owens is still the US Champion you could have Omega and Owens feud for the US title. If Jinder Mahal keeps the WWE Title you could have him feud with Mahal. Anyway post Wrestlemania on the blue brand could have looked similar but at the same time been extremely different for some superstars. This culminates this chapter of Re-Writing the book.
