Recap Of Dean Ambrose and James Ellsworth on Sportscenter: Team Name, Ellsworth Wetting His Pants + More

Dean Ambrose and James Ellsworth were guests on this weeks ‘ESPN Off The Top Rope’ segment hosted by former WWE personality Jonathan Coachman. Ambrose and Ellsworth have become an unusual pairing over the past several weeks on Smackdown LIVE.

Here were the highlights of the interview:

Ellsworth began by saying that he thought he was going to be one and done with WWE after he was squashed by Braun Strowman on RAW back in July. Never in a million years did he think he would be on ESPN and paired with Dean Ambrose. Ambrose joked that never in a million years would he think someone who looked like Ellsworth would be paired with him.  Ambrose says that Ellsworth has AJ Styles number and he wishes that he had AJ’s number like Ellsworth does.

Ambrose compares Ellsworth to a deformed cat that you see on the SPCA commercials. You feel bad that you want to take it in.

The Coach compares Ambrose and Ellsworth to the ‘Rock and Sock Connection’. Ellsworth says that he would be the Rock in that scenario. Ambrose asked if Ellsworth had ever been in any movies, saying that he would be the Rock. He says that maybe if Ellsworth gets to the gym and gets a better hair cut than he can be the Rock of the partnership.

Ellsworth says that he doesn’t fit the mold of a typical WWE superstar. He always had doubts that he would make it to the big times.

Ambrose says that fans can see themselves in James Ellsworth when he steps inside the ring and that is why he thinks he has received the reactions that he has.

Ambrose says Survivor Series was incredible. Nights like those are what keeps the wrestlers coming back for more. Ambrose jokes that a week prior, Ellsworth was in the ring with the Undertaker and confided in him that he wet his pants.

Ellsworth says that after Ambrose becomes WWE World Champion, maybe they could go for the tag titles. He even called their team name: “James Dean”.
