Report On The Original Plans For The Main Event Of Smackdown This Week

The New Day faced off against Drew McIntyre, Sheamus and Cesaro during the main event of Smackdown Live this week. Kofi Kingston was able to land ‘Trouble in Paradise’ on Sheamus for the pinfall victory.

There was some concern after the match that McIntyre could be injured as he left the match early. A recent report suggests that this was the plan all along to keep Drew away from Sheamus & Cesaro’s loss.

It turns out that WWE also had another idea planned for the main event of Smackdown that ended up getting changed.

According to Mike Johnson of PWInsider, the original plan for Smackdown was for it to be Kofi Kingston vs Drew McIntyre in a singles match.

This ended up being changed into a 6-man tag team match as the day progressed.

My Take: That tells me that we are definitely jumping into a Drew vs Kofi feud over the next few months. I am expecting Drew to officially move over to Smackdown in the Superstar Shake-Up.
